Sinéad O’Connor’s Death Not Treated as Suspicious

London, UK (July 27, 2023) – The death of Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor is not being treated as suspicious, police said Thursday.

O’Connor, 56, was found unresponsive at a home in London on Wednesday. She had been reported missing by her family earlier that day.

The Metropolitan Police said there were no signs of foul play and that O’Connor’s death was being treated as “unexplained.”

O’Connor was a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter who rose to fame in the 1980s with her hit single “Nothing Compares 2 U.” She was known for her outspoken personality and her often controversial statements.

In recent years, O’Connor had been open about her struggles with mental health. In 2012, she attempted suicide and was hospitalized.

Her death has been met with an outpouring of grief from fans and fellow musicians.
